A School Resource Officer is a police officer assigned to the Community Involvement Bureau for the purpose of extending the services of the Margate Police Department to the schools within the municipal limits of the City of Margate.
A D.A.R.E. officer is a School Resource Officer assigned to a school for the purpose of teaching the D.A.R.E. curriculum in area elementary schools. The D.A.R.E. officer establishes a class schedule to teach the curriculum to all applicable students. This officer also offers other related classes to lower grade level students, provides guidance to students in curriculum related matters, works with the school guidance personnel.
