The 2025-2026 school year is underway, and schools across Margate are buzzing with activity.

We want #OurMargate residents to be prepared this school year.

Margate Elementary A SchoolGreat news!

Margate has much to celebrate right now.  The Florida Department of Education has named both Liberty Elementary and Margate Elementary “A” ranked schools! Congratulations to students, principals, teachers and staff, and parents on this exciting news. Way to go!

What's Changed This Year?

There’s never been a better way to keep tabs on your child’s grades and communicate with your child’s teacher.

Broward County Schools has released an app that allows parents and guardians the ability to track their child’s success throughout the year. It’s called The Focus Parent Portal. For information, click this link: Focus Portal

Pursuant to the Technology in K-12 Public Schools law (CS/HB 379), section 1006.07(2)(f), Florida Statutes, states that "a student may not use a wireless communications device during instructional time, except when expressly directed by a teacher solely for educational purposes. A teacher shall designate an area for wireless communications devices during instructional time."

In an effort to help your child focus on learning, students in Margate schools will not be permitted to use cell phones or Bluetooth devices. These devices must either be turned off or left in airplane mode.

Slow Down/Expect Delays

• Expect school bus delays the first few weeks of school due to traffic congestion around campuses, schools regulating dismissals, and students becoming familiar with their bus drivers.

• Back to School Means "Sharing the Road" with additional traffic on roads, in school zones, and on school campuses.

School Zones

• In a school zone, when flashers are blinking, stop and yield to pedestrians crossing the crosswalk and pay attention to crossing guards.

Buses on the Road

• If you're driving behind a bus, allow a greater following distance than if you were driving behind a car. It will give you more time to stop once the yellow lights start flashing.

• Passing a school bus that is stopped to load or unload children is illegal.

• Never pass a bus from behind – or from either direction if you're on an undivided road – if it is stopped to load or unload children.

• Traffic must stop if the yellow or red lights are flashing and the stop arm is extended.
