  • To better service the community, Republic Services has expanded bulk collection to six days per week (Monday - Saturday).  To accommodate this improved service, changes to collection days were necessary.  Please visit our Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Map to verify your collection days.

  • Once you have setup your water service account with the City of Margate, contact Republic Services at 954-583-1830 to request your cart(s). There is no charge for your initial garbage and recycling cart(s). However, you must request your cart(s) within 90 days of establishing your water service to receive your cart(s) at no cost. Please allow up to three (3) business days for delivery.

  • Damaged carts should be reported immediately to Republic Services at 954-583-1830 or email garbage@margatefl.com. There is no charge for your first replacement. For any subsequent damaged carts where the damage is due to neglect, abuse, modification, or any other damage not covered under the warranty, you would be responsible for the cost of repair or replacement along with any applicable delivery fees. However, if your cart is damaged during the collection process or has a manufacturer defect, your cart will be repaired or replaced free of charge.

  • Yes. Please contact Republic Services 954-583-1830 to request a different size cart. Garbage carts are available in 35, 65, and 95 gallon and recycling carts are available in 35 or 65 gallon. A delivery fee may apply.

  • Check your cart(s), yard waste, and/or bulk waste for a non-collection notice. If there is a non-collection notice, it will explain why your garbage, recycling, yard waste, and / or bulk waste was not collected. Please correct the reason your cart(s), yard waste, and/or bulk waste was not collected to ensure that it is collected on your next scheduled collection day for that type of waste. If you did not receive a non-collection notice or have questions regarding your non-collection notice, please contact Republic Services at 954-583-1830 or email garbage@margatefl.com.

  • Republic Services provides non-collection notices to educate residents about why their garbage, recycling, yard waste, and/or bulk waste was not collected. A non-collection notice may also be placed on a cart or yard waste or bulk waste pile that was collected to inform the resident that something was placed out improperly but was collected anyways. The non-collection notices provide information about proper placement of carts, yard waste, and bulk waste. 

    To ensure that your waste is collected in the future, please be sure to correct items that may have been noted on the non-collection notices. If you have questions about a non-collection notice that you have received, please contact Republic Services at 954-583-1830.

  • For all questions regarding garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulk waste collection (e.g. collection days, missed pickups, damage caused during collection, etc.), please contact Republic Services at 954-583-1830.

  • View Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Map to determine your collection days. Properly place your cart(s), yard waste, and/or bulk at the curb prior to 7 a.m. on your collection day.  For garbage and recycling, place your carts at the curb no earlier than 5:00p.m. the day before your collection day.  For bulk and yard waste, items can be placed at the curb no earlier than three (3) days before your collection day.

  • Contact the police non-emergency number, 954-764-4357, to file a police report. Once you have your case number, contact Republic Services with your case number and address at 954-583-1830. There is no charge for your first replacement. Please allow up to three (3) business days for delivery.

  • Please contact Republic Services online or by phone at 954-583-1830 to request additional garbage and recycling carts. In addition to a $50.00 delivery fee, there is a cost for additional carts. The available sizes and costs for garbage are: 35-gallon ($55.00), 65-gallon ($60.00) and 95-gallon ($65.00) and the available sizes for recycling carts are 35-gallon ($55.00) and 65-gallon ($60.00). In addition to the cost of the cart(s), there is a delivery fee of $50.00, all payable to Republic Services.

  • The collection process for garbage and recycling carts utilizes automated arms to pick up and dump the carts. There needs to be sufficient clearance to allow the automated collection arm to safely pick up the carts without damaging other property and three (3) feet is the minimum required clearance.

  • Yes, you are responsible for maintaining your garbage and recycling carts in good, sanitary condition.

  • The garbage and recycling carts that were provided free of charge are the property of the City of Margate and must be left on the premises for the next resident. However, any additional garbage and / or recycling carts that you may have purchased are your property and can be taken with you.

  • Please follow these links for information on where to recycle or properly dispose of household hazardous waste and electronic items. Plastic bags can be returned to collection containers at local grocery stores. Unwanted goods (books, clothing, furniture, etc.) can be donated to organizations that will give them a second life.

  • The document shredding service will be available at both of the Republic Services sponsored household hazard waste collection events held in the City each year. The vendor providing the service will accept and securely destroy residential documents. Margate residents will be able to bring up to three (3) standard letter sized paper boxes of documents at each event free of charge.

  • To recycle your old bins, simply place them into your recycling cart. You may also keep your recycling bins to use around the home. However, the bins cannot be used for recycling collection.

  • If you no longer want your personal garbage cans, you can place them out with your bulk and yard waste items on your bulk and yard waste collection day, on your first garbage collection day, and they will be collected.

  • There is a recycle container located at Oriole Park, 7055 NW 1st Street, on the far west end of the park, up against Rock Island Road. Thank you for your interest and dedication to properly dispose of your recyclables.
