Margate City Center Project

The City of Margate is advancing plans for a new City Center, a transformative mixed-use destination envisioned to become the heart of the community. Planned for approximately 50 acres near the intersection of State Road 7 and Margate Boulevard, the project is designed to serve as a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly “Main and Main” for residents and visitors alike.

Margate City Center is intended to enhance quality of life, create economic opportunity, and establish a welcoming gathering place that reflects the community’s vision for the future.

Project Vision

The City Center is envisioned as a dynamic, mixed-use environment that blends dining, entertainment, retail, residential living, and public spaces. The goal is to create an engaging destination where people can live, gather, and connect day and night.

Potential features under consideration include:

  • Boardwalk-style promenades
  • Walking trails and bike paths
  • Playgrounds and family-friendly amenities
  • Water features and landscaped open space
  • Community gathering areas and event spaces
  • Public art installations and signature sculptures
  • Retail, restaurant, and food-and-beverage offerings

The development is planned with a strong emphasis on walkability, connectivity, and placemaking.

Scope and Size

  • Total Area: Approximately 50 acres
  • Location: State Road 7 and Margate Boulevard
  • Development Type: Mixed-use (retail, dining, entertainment, residential, and public space)
  • Estimated Groundbreaking: As early as 2027 (subject to approvals and final planning)

“Eatertainment” Destination

City Manager Cale Curtis, who also serves as Executive Director of the Community Redevelopment Agency, describes the project as a “vibrant mixed-use” destination anchored by restaurants, entertainment, and living spaces.

Curtis refers to City Center as an “eatertainment” hub, combining dining with entertainment experiences that go beyond traditional restaurants, creating a destination that encourages people to stay, explore, and engage.

Community Engagement

Community input is a cornerstone of the City Center planning process.

  • The first community meeting was held in October 2025, marking an important milestone
  • Representatives from development partner Brookfield Properties presented early conceptual renderings
  • Residents were invited to review design ideas, ask questions, and share feedback
  • Ongoing public engagement will continue throughout the planning and development process

Resident feedback remains central as details evolve and plans are refined.

Development Partner: Brookfield Properties

Brookfield Properties is serving as the City’s development partner, bringing extensive experience in large-scale, mixed-use destinations across the country. Their role includes concept development, design collaboration, and community engagement as the project moves forward.
