Margate's Property Improvement Grant, designed to make the city more beautiful, will be open for new applications beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 9.
The program provides 50% reimbursement up to $10,000 for improvements to single-family properties or multi-family (individually owned) homesteaded properties.
It also provides a 50% reimbursement grant of up to $50,000 for commercial or multi-family properties, common areas, and building exteriors owned by condominium or homeowner associations.
Eligible improvements include exterior lighting and painting, landscaping, roofs (if it is visible from the right-of-way), some types of fencing, doors and windows, driveway replacements, and more.
Properties listed for sale, in foreclosure, that have liens or are not homesteaded are not eligible.
