[ARCHIVED] Mayor's Message Regarding Marjory Stoneman Douglas High

Thursday evening I joined with members of Congress, the Florida State legislature, the School Board, the Sheriff, Mayors and Commissioners of many of the 31 Broward County Cities, as well as, first responders, the clergy and the Parkland City Commission in a candlelight vigil to grieve with all of Parkland.

I know I speak for the people of Margate when I offer our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy.  We mourn with you and although we will never know the amazing futures that these 17 wonderful individuals would have had nor the contributions they would have made to society, we do know one thing for sure -  we are one with Parkland.  You are our family and we cry with you.  Your children are our children.  Your heroic teachers, coaches and staff are ours. Your loss is our loss.  This must never happen again! Enough is enough!

Arlene Schwartz, Mayor

City of Margate, Florida
