Flu Shots for Seniors on Oct. 11th

Flu season is here. The Northwest Focal Point Senior Center and Walgreens have teamed up to offer flu shots to seniors (ages 60 and older) on Thursday, October 11th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Senior Center, located at 6009 NW 10th Street. No appointment necessary. Most insurance plans cover the cost of the flu shot. For more information, please call (954) 973-0300. 

Groove and Green October 14th

Groove + Green is Sunday, Oct. 14th

It’s time to get in the groove! Join us on Sunday, October 14th for Groove + Green, Margate’s newest addition to our family-friendly activities. 

Scheduled bi-monthly, Groove + Green takes place the second and fourth Sunday of each month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Margate Boulevard and State Road 7. This new event features live music, brunch offerings, a pop-up marketplace, and fun special events.

Guests are encouraged to shop small & local at Groove + Green. The bustling farmers’ market area will showcase South Florida food purveyors offering local produce, unfiltered honey, fresh bread, cured pickles & olives, artisan jams, live plants, prepared specialty foods, vegan delights, and other small-batch products. 

In addition to food shopping, attendees can also enjoy brunch, al fresco. Select food trucks & food stands will offer on-site brunch options, which can be enjoyed at seating provided beneath a large lounge canopy or picnic style on the lawn. Guests can also enjoy sparkling mimosas, fresh juice, and other beverages!

Calling all Vendors! Fall Festival is Oct. 27th

The City of Margate’s popular Fall Festival is back and the Parks and Recreation Department is ready to host countless families, friends, and neighbors for an evening of seasonal fun! 

The Annual Fall Festival is set for Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 6-11 p.m. at the Margate Sports Complex, 1695 Banks Road.

The Fall Festival is a “FREE” family-oriented event with plenty of activities for everyone. There will be a concert featuring the Tobacco Rd Band, a Haunted House created by the Margate Police and Fire Explorers, line dancing, hayrides, pony rides, petting zoo, costume contests for all ages, pumpkin carving contests (bring your own carved pumpkin), scarecrow building contest, interactive programs for young children, craft vendors, and food vendors. 

Prizes awarded to all winners for each contest. 

Calling all vendors! Preregistration is required for all food vendors and craft vendors. To register, please download the vendor application form at www.margatefl.com or contact the City of Margate Parks and Recreation Department by calling (954) 972-6458.

Mac and Cheese Dinner and Demo on October 20th

Tickets on Sale for Mac and Cheese Event on Oct. 20th

Come out on Saturday, October 20th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. for our Build Your Own Mac-N-Cheese dinner, hosted by the Margate Fire Department Benevolent Association. The fundraiser to benefit the Woman's Breast & Heart Initiative will be held at the Charles and Carol Katz Community Center, located at 6111 NW 10th Street. 

Chefs for this event will be the men and women of the Margate-Coconut Creek Fire Department. Kids will enjoy activities, games and fire trucks and equipment will be on display.

For a minimum $5 donation, attendees will get a bowl of Mac-n-Cheese. Desserts will also be available for a donation.
