Household Hazardous Waste, Electronics Collection and Document Shredding Event

HHW, Electronics Collection and Shredding Event on Sept. 22nd

The City of Margate, in partnership with Waste Management, is offering residents a safe and convenient way to dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste (HHW) and old electronics, and shred documents that include sensitive information.

The Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection and Document Shredding Event will take place on Saturday, September 22nd from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Oriole Park, located at 7055 NW 1st Street.

City of Margate residents can drop off items such as household chemicals, cleaning solutions, aerosols, paint, oil, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, vehicle fluids, mercury thermometers, propane tanks, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs), TVs, computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, cell phones, home phones, wire, DVD players, rechargeable batteries, and tires (limit 4).

Items not accepted include explosives, bio-hazardous waste, medical waste, appliances, microwaves, shavers, sewing machines, and business or commercial generated waste.  

Secure document shredding will also be available during the event. Margate residents may bring up to three standard letter size boxes of documents for shredding.

Proof of Margate residency is required.  This includes a photo ID and one of the following (with matching address): a utility bill, vehicle registration, or a trim notice/tax bill.

Trunk or Treat

Margate PD To Host Trunk or Treat 

The Margate Police Department is hosting its very first Trunk or Treat! This SPOOKtacular event will take place in the parking lot at the Margate Police Department/City Hall, 5790 Margate Boulevard from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Margate-Coconut Creek Fire Rescue Department will be a part of the fun, with their rescue trucks full of candy! Trunk loads of candy and goodies will be available for all trunk-or-treaters. This event will be held on Halloween, so make this your first stop of the night! See you there!

Movies in the Park Series Kicks Off on October 6th

Movies In the Park Kicks Off Oct. 6th

The City of Margate Parks and Recreation Department will kick off its 2018-2019 Movies in the Parks series on Saturday, October 6th with Sherlock Gnomes. The movie will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Margate Sports Complex, 1695 Banks Road. 

When a string of garden decor starts going missing, Gnomeo and Juliet ask Sherlock Gnomes to take the case. This colorful crew of lawn ornaments must traverse London to save their fellow decorations from being smashed.

Movies in the Park features free outdoor movie screenings for the entire family. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Food and beverage will be available for purchase.
