Time is Running Out - Complete the Census Today

Complete Your Census Form by September 30th

The U.S. Census Bureau is ending all counting efforts for the 2020 census on Sept. 30, 2020. Time is running out.


It only takes 10 minutes and effects 10 years of your life. You can fill out the census online, by phone, or fill out the census questionnaire that you received in the mail. Just make sure you do it.

The Census Questionnaire is available in more than a dozen languages.

Grab and Go Meals are Available to All Kids

FREE Grab and Go Meals for All Children

Breakfast and lunch are provided at no cost to ALL children 18 years and younger - regardless of meal eligibility status and even if they don't attend a BCPS school.


Grab-and-go meals are available at all BCPS elementary, middle and high schools, every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. while the District continues instruction through eLEarning. 

Parents or their children can pick up bundles of meals for multiple days. If the child is not present, parents are required to provide identification for their child. For more information, go to https://www.browardschools.com/Page/54720.

ePermits One Stop Shop

ePermits One Stop Shop Now Available

Save time and avoid the lines, traffic and paper trail with the new one-stop ePermits process. The City of Margate and Broward County have teamed up to launch ePermitsOneStop, a centralized website that allows customers to submit their application and have their plans reviewed online for permits, licenses and approvals.


Using ePermitsOneStop, Margate customers can now apply and receive approval for both Margate building permits and associated Broward County permits in a quicker, more seamless process, eliminating the need to travel to Broward’s Government Center West in Plantation.

Tree Giveaway on September 26th

City of Margate's Tree Giveaway Set for Sept. 26th and Oct. 17th

The City of Margate is hosting two Free Tree Giveaway events for Margate residents only. The events will take place on Saturday, September 26th and Saturday, October 17th from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 5701 Margate Boulevard, which is located at the corner of Margate Boulevard and State Road 7.

Over 500 Citrus, fruit and flowering trees will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each household will receive ONE TREE per residential address. Please bring a photo ID and proof of Margate residency.

Margate residents will choose from various types of trees, as available. Available trees, while supplies last, are as follows: 

September 26th Tree Giveaway:
• Tangerine
• Key Limequat
• Meyers Lemon
• Various Avocado

October 17th Tree Giveaway:
• Live Oak
• Magnolia
• Crepe Myrtle – various colors
• Tabebuia – various colors

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the following safety rules have been implemented to ensure a no-contact event: (1) All vehicle occupants must wear a mask and remain in their vehicle, and (2) Staff will load selected trees in vehicles.

Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection & Document Shredding on Sept. 26th

The City of Margate, in partnership with Waste Management, will host the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and Electronics Collection and Document Shredding Event on Saturday, September 26th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Oriole Park, located at 7055 NW 1st Street. 

This event offers residents a safe and convenient way to dispose of unwanted HHW and old electronics, and shred personal documents. 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the following safety rules have been implemented to ensure a no-contact event:

• All vehicle occupants must wear a mask.
• All attendees must remain in the vehicles at all times.
• All items to be disposed/shred must be located in the trunk, hatch, or bed of the vehicle (no items will be removed from the cabin of a vehicle).

Acceptable items include household chemicals, cleaning solutions, aerosols, paint, oil, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, vehicle fluids, mercury thermometers, propane tanks, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs), TVs, computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, cell phones, home phones, wire, DVD players, rechargeable batteries, and up to 4 tires. 

Items not accepted include explosives, bio-hazardous waste, medical waste, appliances, microwaves, shavers, sewing machines, and business or commercial generated waste.  

Secure document shredding will be available during the event. Margate residents may bring up to three standard letter size boxes of documents for shredding.

Proof of Margate residency is required.  This includes a photo ID AND a utility bill, vehicle registration, or a trim notice/tax bill with matching address.
