City of Margate residents along with residents from other participating Broward County municipalities can properly dispose of their household hazardous waste and old electronics at the City of Margate and Broward County’s Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Event. On Sunday, January 21, 2018, residents can bring their household hazardous waste and old electronics items to Oriole Park, located at 7055 NW 1st Street, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. All accepted items will be recycled or disposed of properly.Items accepted at the collection event include household chemicals, cleaning solutions, aerosols, paint, oil, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, pool chemicals, vehicle fluids, mercury thermometers, propane tanks, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs), TVs, computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, cell phones, home phones, wire, DVD players, rechargeable batteries, and tires (limit 4).Items not accepted include explosives, bio-hazardous waste, medical waste, appliances, microwaves, shavers, sewing machines, and business or commercial generated waste. Proof of residency from a participating city is required. This includes a photo ID and one of the following (with matching address): a utility bill, vehicle registration, or a trim notice/tax bill.
