Captain Michael Palma started his career with the Margate Police Department in 1995. In 1998 he became a Bicycle Officer and two years later became a Field Training Officer. He was assigned to the Planning and Research Division in 2002 and entered the Master Police Officer program in 2004. Later that year, he was promoted to Sergeant and served the Road Patrol Division for four years until he was re-assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division.
In 2009, Michael Palma was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and commanded the Road Patrol Division. In 2011, he was re-assigned to the Administrative Services Bureau for two years, after which he served as the Commander of the Support Services Bureau. Then, in 2014, he served as the Commander of the Neighborhood Policing Division. On October 5, 2015, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned to the Field Services Bureau. Captain Palma also serves as the Investigative Services Bureau Commander.
